A project by InterFemme* e.V.

Men have to be strong. Men must assert themselves. Men must not cry. Who actually says that? And why are these old, authoritarian images of masculinity being sold as the ideal again today?

Loud leaders present themselves as infallible heroes, preach dominance and toughness - and their influence reaches into the minds and bodies of millions. But what happens to those who don't fit into this image? And what about those who want - or need - to be part of it?

"BOYS DON'T CRY!" is a performance about masculinity, expectations and what is bubbling under the surface.

Ten men from different backgrounds take the audience on a journey through patriarchal structures, peer pressure and the courage to be different.

It gets loud. It gets quiet. It gets honest. And perhaps in the end, the most important question arises: How can we free ourselves from this?

The production deals with the topic of masculinity and the deconstruction of toxic images of masculinity. Loud music will be played.

Accessibility: The inclusive performance will be presented in spoken and sign language. The performance is suitable for wheelchair users.
