silent green presents
You may find yourself in a situation where you suddenly feel the urge to perform - but there is no audience and you feel trapped. SOFT PRISON, a work by OJOBOCA, is a collective performance of a single-user device in which a phosphorescent 35mm slideshow and a personalized soundtrack guide participants through a solitary choreography in which they become both performer and spectator of themselves.
Véréna Paravel and Lucien Castaing-Taylor's somniloquies is based on the strange nocturnal recordings of an unconscious American songwriter who dreamed in vain of making it on Broadway. Dion McGregor's greatest success was the song Where is the Wonder, sung by Barbra Streisand. But he went down in history as the most loquacious sleep talker ever recorded. The Dreamover Night with Dion McGregor, curated by Steve Venright, consists of a 12-hour selection of previously unreleased and unheard dream recordings from the 1960s. Characterized by both tender empathy and abysmal misanthropy, they map our sleeping selves - beyond the consent and control that characterize our daytime consciousness. Visitors are invited to spend the night in silent green, to wander between sleep and nocturnal dream immersion and to descend into Dion's dream world - and their own unconscious.
