The Pines is a multi-channel audio installation and publication that documents the sound of a forest over the course of an entire year. The recordings were manually analyzed using bioacoustic applications and composed into four-hour chapters, each representing a season. The work is a representative collage of the acoustic ecology of a forest over the course of the year - and poses the question: How does a soundscape change when the human listener leaves it?
