Scenic reading with the actress SIBYLLE KUHNE, Leipzig
In her novels and diaries, Brigitte Reimann (1933 - 1973) gives an unembellished account of life under "real existing socialism". At the age of 14, she contracted polio and spent a long time in hospital, reading her way through world literature... and decided to become a writer. She publishes her first stories such as "Frau am Pranger", "Die Denunziantin" and later "Ankunft im Alltag". In 1965, she was awarded the Heinrich Mann Prize for "The Siblings". In 1960, she moved with her second husband, the author Siegfried Pie-tschmann, to Hoyerswerda, where a new town was to be built for the "Schwarze Pumpe" lignite combine with tens of thousands of apartments in industrial prefabricated housing. For Brigitte Reimann, this means Being there and participating in the construction of a socialist city. She begins her novel "Franziska Linkerhand". The title character is a young female architect who shakes up the well-worn daily routine of the development team and calls for cultural sites and leisure spaces.... Brigitte Reimann herself also gets involved - in different ways. Before she could finish her main work, she died in 1973 at the age of just 39. Sibylle Kuhne presents this impressive author - her moving life; her fight against bureaucracy and small-mindedness as well as her fight for her convictions and for her love.
SIBYLLE KUHNE studied acting at the "Hans Otto" Theater Academy in Leipzig. After engagements in Leipzig and Rostock, she performed all over Germany. She works for radio and TV, speaks audio books, dubs and successfully presents literary-musical programs; member of GEDOK Mitteldeutschland e. V.; co-founder of the "Siegburger Freilichtspiele" and the Zimmertheater "Haus Birkenried". 2003 Theaterpreis der Stadt Köln for the ensemble "Das Fest" (Vinterberg).
