An event as part of the International Photoscene Cologne

NEW FARMER purports to be a collection of documentary photographs from the 1960s depicting the success story of the so-called Green Revolution in agriculture. But as the narrative progresses, the images raise more and more questions until they drift completely into absurdity. The work questions the technological progress narrative, our extractive relationship with nature and the way history is made and perceived through images.

Bruce Eesly (1984) is a visual artist and gardener from Berlin. He works with photography, archives, AI-generated imagery and a blending of fact and fiction to question the reliability of historical narratives. His work is characterized by an interest in the history of industrial agriculture and the status of photography in the age of artificial intelligence. New Farmer has been exhibited at Rencontres d'Arles (Arles, 2024), Haus am Kleistpark (Berlin, 2024) and the Jimei x Arles International Photography Festival (Xiamen, 2025), among others.

Tina da Rocha is a singer/songwriter who lives in Germany and misses her family in Canada. She wrote her first real song in 2017 after her first separation. In 2020 she started writing more songs and she discovered how important this was in her life. In 2022 she released five of these songs.
