Breastless beautiful: a photo project about strength and beauty
In my photo project "Breastlessly Beautiful", I portray women who face life's challenges with courage and strength. The impetus for this project came from a very personal experience: my mother died of cancer far too young, and my sister also had to face the battle against breast cancer. I witnessed the progression of the disease, the fears, the struggles and the decisions that had to be made. One of these decisions was not to opt for reconstruction after having her breasts removed.
What touched me the most is the way she and many other women in similar situations move through the world. They radiate an inner strength that makes them beautiful - not only on the outside, but also on the inside.
"Breastless Beautiful" is a tribute to these strong women. It is a project that shows the diversity of beauty. I hope that the women I have portrayed will inspire and encourage others through their pictures.
