Buchpräsentation der Regesta Imperii

In the organizer's words:

We present this volume with summaries (regesten) of 386 charters of Louis the Bavarian (1314-1347) from archives and libraries in Hamburg, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia and Schleswig-Holstein.

The collected originals and copies reveal the emperor's very different activities: their content ranges from individual enfeoffments or confirmations of privileges for towns or local personalities to extensive regulations, such as a Rhenish land peace.

However, in addition to the basic lines of "great politics" that they deal with, the everyday questions and problems of the ruler and his chancellery that they reveal are particularly fascinating: In which language should a document be written for the respective recipients? Which seal should be placed under which document and how should it be affixed? Who contacts the emperor and why? Where does he get his falcons for hunting or how does he deal with "donkey-like" attempts at fraud?

Insights and answers will be provided at the evening event in the Historical Archive with the Rhenish Image Archive on issue 14 of the series "Regesten Ludwigs des Bayerns und Friedrichs des Schönen 1314-1347".
