Two British women, two Germans, four single parents and one big culture clash: Kayla, Tamara, Antje and Nana are friendly mothers who criticize each other as sharply as they support each other unconditionally. In bitingly humorous episodes, we follow the women and their children through their everyday lives, from children's birthdays with cocaine in the family bathroom to parents' evening with a crush on the new class teacher: in her new novel, British author and Berliner-by-choice Nandi tells of a life among Germans, of the bureaucratic hurdles for single parents, of generational conflicts among mothers, of class and origin - and of the comfort that can be found in the most impossible places.

Jacinta Nandi's novel Single Mom Supper Club reads like Working Moms meets Fleabag: very British, very zeitgeisty, very political and very, very funny.

Jacinta Nandi, born in East London in 1980, is the daughter of a British Indian and a passionate northern English communist and feminist. She came to Berlin in 2000 to learn German. She stayed there, became a TEFL teacher, a single mom and finally: a writer. She was a member of the legendary Berlin reading stage Die Surfpoeten and wrote for Exberliner, taz and Missy Magazine, among others, founded the PoC artist collective Parallelgesellschaft and is a columnist for the Süddeutsche Zeitung's family trio. She has two sons and lives in Berlin-Lichtenrade.
