Buchpremiere mit Verena Teke – »Unter anderen Umständen«

Book premiere! On October 8, we will be celebrating the debut and premiere of "Unter anderen Umständen" in the BUCHBOX - be there when the two authors Verena Teke and Caroline Rosales talk about the novel, the writing process and many other exciting insights in our bookstore.

After a failed relationship, Hanna, in her mid-thirties, flees to Berlin. The signs are good for a new start. She meets Taner, who actually wants the same thing as her: a baby. But after two years, Hanna is still not pregnant. Still optimistic at first, the couple seek help at a fertility clinic. But while everyone around them gets pregnant without any problems, Hanna gets caught up in the mills of reproductive medicine cycle after cycle. She is confronted with schedules, hormone injections and their impact on her body. Her relationship begins to break down and Hanna loses more and more courage and nerves, while she is supposed to do just one thing: stay relaxed. The novel tells of nine months of hope and fear, of shattered dreams and the harsh reality of an unfulfilled desire to have children, of other circumstances that are sad, painful, absurd and often funny at the same time.

Verena Teke, born in Stuttgart in 1985, studied theater, film and television studies and German language and literature and worked in theater. She lives with her family in Berlin.

Caroline Rosales, born in Bonn in 1982, studied Chinese regional studies and classical archaeology at the Humboldt University in Berlin. During her studies, she lived in Beijing for a year, where she studied Modern and Classical Chinese. She is the author of several non-fiction books. "Sexually Available" and "Single Mom" were published in 2019, followed by her first novel "Das Leben keiner Frau" in 2021 and her children's book "Allerbeste Schwestern" in 2021. From March 2021 to February 2023, she was an editor at ZEITmagazin ONLINE in the family section. In March 2024, her first television series, a film adaptation of the book "Sexually Available", was broadcast, and her novel "Die Ungelebten" was published in the same month. She lives in Berlin with her four children.

The event is a cooperation with the publisher Antje Kunstmann.
