According to literary critics, the novel, which won the German Book Prize in 2023, doesn't need to shy away from comparison with other great young adult novels by Robert Musil or Hermann Hesse. The flair of the setting of the traditional boarding school in Vienna in the middle of a park, sports facilities and a historic grotto seems to refer directly to its literary and historical role models, but Till, the main character, cannot do much with this snobbish environment. He is captivated by the real-time strategy game "Age of Empires". Without his teachers or classmates suspecting anything, he becomes the youngest top player in the gaming community - a real online celebrity. But how real can such luck and fame be?
