Bunker tour

Off-road tour through the Wolfratshauser Forst with Justine Bittner and Martin Bruckner:

During the Nazi era, the armaments industry also played an important role in our region. Allegedly, "chocolate factories" were built in Wolfratshauser Forst at the time. In reality, however, plants such as the "Fabrik zur Verwertung Chemischer Stoffe" by the Dynamit A.G. (DAG) group and the "Deutsche Sprengchemie" (DSC) plant were built here

These munitions factories were considerably expanded during the Second World War in order to meet the increasing demand for war material. The Buchberg, Föhrenwald and Stein labor camps were established, where thousands of forced laborers had to toil under inhumane conditions. From May 1945, armaments production in Geretsried ceased and the town had to face the challenges of the post-war period, when thousands of displaced Germans had to be housed and integrated here.
