Buntspecht 's pop music is characterized by a dystopian romanticism, a radical wild beauty, an insane intensity as well as a sincerity and artistic freedom that is unparalleled these days. With a new album in their luggage, the band are now preparing to embark on their next tour of Germany.
Buntspecht are a captivating live band - once you've seen them, you'll never forget it.
Almost every one of their songs opens up a new universe, points in a different direction, but together they form an almost magical unity, a homogeneous work.
Buntspecht succeed in creating a unanimous whole from the multitude of their influences and thus a magically indulgent indie chamber pop sound. Nobody sounds like Buntspecht right now. They are out there all alone.
With them as support: ELSA!
ELSA is the four-piece band around singer Elsa Steixner and she is hungry with curiosity. Courage, fear, longing and chaos; wildness is followed by immeasurable tenderness. You want to lie down in her music; lifted, comforted and caressed. Like under water, for a few breaths.
Influenced by the urgency of artists such as Nina Simone and Abdullah Ibrahim as well as the compositional diversity and sophistication of songwriters such as Paul Simon and Joni Mitchell, a foundation of jazz, folk and RnB emerges from which the idiosyncratic, always inviting compositions of the band ELSA develop. This embracing of tradition, combined with a curious and attentive view of the present, lends the music a timelessness without diminishing its topicality.
ELSA's debut album "A Day On Solid Ground" was released by Hoanzl Austria in spring 2023. The band is currently working with producer David Furrer on their second album JUMP!, which will be presented at Porgy&Bess on May 6, 2025.
"ELSA easily takes you by the hand through a multitude of emotions, from sorrow to exuberant joy, spanning a spectrum from introspection to wandering curiosity."
- Michiel Braam (Head of ArtEZ Conservatory Arnhem, Pianist & Composer)
