Büşra Kayıkçı: piano
Original compositions between minimal music and the soundscapes of the prepared and amplified piano
"Listening to music is like a journey through space and time - as a composer, I create this space in which the listener moves." Inspired by minimal music, interior design, art and dance, Büşra Kayıkçı began writing against isolation in the years of the coronavirus pandemic. Her longing for distant places flowed into her compositions for prepared and electronically manipulated piano. The trained designer uses her instrument to paint hypnotic soundscapes, pulsating patterns and melancholy colors in the vast space of the Kreuzkirche in Bonn. Musically, she moves between composers such as John Cage and Michael Nyman, pop artists such as Radiohead and the musical traditions of the Mediterranean region. The pianist from Istanbul is one of the most innovative and promising young voices in the piano world.
