Berlin at the beginning of the 1930s. The zeitgeist in the German capital is characterized by love, lust and passion, sex, intoxication and art - as well as poverty and failing politics. In the legendary Kit Kat Club, the star Sally Bowles shines. Her charm also dazzles the American writer Clifford Bradshaw - they get to know each other and he falls in love with her. When Sally loses her job and moves in with him, they become a couple. The landlady of the boarding house, Fräulein Schneider, wants to marry the Jewish fruit merchant Schulz, but her plans are overtaken by reality: the Nazi seizure of power determines her life from then on. Clifford wants to leave Germany with the pregnant Sally, but she has other plans ... The musical, which premiered in New York in 1966, is now coming to Theater Bremen under the direction of Andreas Kriegenburg - "Come hear the music play / Life is a cabaret, old chum / Come to the cabaret!"
