CREATING INDIVIDUAL DRUMS - Summer Academy 2025

The cajon is the groovebox, the drum box, the Peruvian percussion instrument and at home in almost every musical genre. From gospel choirs to hip hop formations, from blues bands to songwriting: with its drum-like sound, it is impossible to imagine contemporary music without the cajon.
In this workshop, all participants build their own instrument. A high-quality kit made by Sven Bartel forms the basis of the individual cajons. The sound hole is sawn out in the workshop according to the participants' own designs, which can be artistic and creative. The playing surfaces are available in different types of wood, all carefully veneered, from which the participants can choose their own design. They are glued and sanded, the body is assembled and the inner workings are installed. Snare carpets are used for this. Individual cajons are created step by step so that everyone ends up holding a high-quality, freshly oiled instrument in their hands.

Those who wish can use their instrument directly in the percussion workshop on Thursday (VA no.: 25F2054). A separate registration is required for this!
