Canarias Calling Festival

Presented by CANARIAS CALLING, a non-profit cultural association with the support of Oxfanzine, Sancocho.com and Teguise Music Show Case.
We exist, 'cause we resist! Years ago, we, the founders of CANARIAS CALLING, set our minds to making culture - especially free cinema in the periphery of Europe, the Canary Islands - possible. And since we are also pretty punk in the best sense of the word, here comes a project close to our hearts and a cry for help: We exist, 'cause we resist: CANARIAS CALLING FESTIVAL 2025 III Edition. According to the motto "everyone off to Kreuzberg" and "let's get united", we're taking large parts of our scene with us to play together with legendary bands from Hamburg, Berlin and NRW. And where, if not at SO36, which stands for a rebellious, independent spirit?

What already worked at the Mind the Gap festival, the Jolly Roger birthday party at the Knust and at the ApenAir festival for 3 songs, will now really crack as part of the "Canarias Calling 2025" at the beginning of October in Germany and at the beginning of December on the Canary Islands: from "Katze beisst in Draht" to "Alle gegen Alle", from "Einer mehr oder weniger" to "Deutschland muss sterben" via "Ost-Berlin" to "Let`s get United!" Look forward to a best of "Diggen&Rastaknast" as part of a mega-awesome event.

Blechreiz (Berlin)
LET THERE BE SKA! As one of the most important representatives of the European ska scene, the 8 to 10-piece formation from Berlin has long occupied an outstanding position as an energetic live band with its special sound and furious show. Since a handful of enthusiasts decided to pick up their own instruments in West Berlin in the summer of 1983, BLECHREIZ have been touring the stages of Europe. In the early days, the sound of BELCHREIZ in the mid-1980s was strongly influenced by British two-tone, punk and wave bands, but the band immediately focused on self-composed, written and arranged songs, with which they also celebrated their successes. Cover versions of well-known ska titles were interspersed in the program or are heavily edited versions of e.g. Jamaican ska classics. However, BLECHREIZ are best known for their own songs and their furious stage show. For the worldwide ska community, they themselves contributed their saxophone-booming "Bumble Bee", the ironic ska crooner "16 Pets" and their version of the Worker song "Which Side Are You On?" as today's classics of the scene.

The Vageenas (NRW)
THE VAGEENAS77% punk, rest bullshit;The Vageenas play cool, no-frills I want you to be punk-punk that you couldn't wish for more delightful and straightforward!Founded in 1994, there have been a few line-up changes on guitar, bass and drums since then, but there has never been a change in the energy and joy of playing that characterizes this band! It makes no more sense to try to describe THE VAGEENAS in words than it would make sense to resurrect Sid Vicious. Conclusion: Go to a show and have fun!

Maleficio (Lanzarote)
Maleficio is a punk band from Lanzarote with innovative hardcore and SKA influences
The band was founded in 2018 and today consists of Ilber Cedres "Maestro" (vocals and guitar), Colacho "La Bestia" (bass and background vocals) Tanausú Lorenzo "Chronos" (drums and background vocals), Marcial Viñoly "Pelao" (guitar and background vocals) and the fifth member, as they call it, Carles Sánchez "Boss" (sound engineer).
All of them have played in various well-known Canarian bands and charitable projects.

Sonido Kacharro (Fuerteventura)
And why Sonido Kacharro?
First of all for fun. All the members love music and see music as the best way to spread their political thoughts against an unjust system.
For this reason, they openly declare themselves as anarchists and are against any authoritarian subjugation.
The band's goals are to spread their political ideas and to share the stages of the islands and the world with like-minded people.
They consistently reject any kind of racist, LGBTQ-phobic, sexist or other social excrement.
