The Woodstock Music & Art Festival began 55 years ago and is still considered the most important music festival of all time - musically brilliant, characterized by a peaceful and uncommercial spirit. Over 400,000 people wanted to experience the best rock bands in 1969. The two original bands Canned Heat and Ten Years After are coming together again for joint concerts. Both bands already played at the festival in 1969, which has never been forgotten.
The performance of the then still young band Ten Years After at the festival in Woodstock remains unforgotten. Ten Years After's 90-minute concert at Woodstock, which put even Jimi Hendrix in the shade, made the band immortal. Especially with the ten-minute encore "I'm Going Home", the quartet played their way into the hearts of the audience. In addition to this legendary song, concert-goers can look forward to other classics such as "I Woke Up This Morning", "Love Like A Man", "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl", "The Hobbit" and "Choo, Choo Mama". The band will also be playing material that fans have repeatedly requested over the years, but which has rarely or never been heard live. Founding member Ric Lee (drums) is joined in the current line-up by singer and guitarist Sam C Lee as well as bass icon Craig Fletcher and Dave Burgoyne on keyboards.
The story of Canned Heat covers the great chapter of blues rock. It is also a story of triumphs, tragedies and the struggle with alcohol and hard drugs. Canned Heat are the blues'n'boogie preachers of the Woodstock festival. Canned Heat also features drummer Adolfo "Fito" de la Para, a musician who was there at Woodstock and has kept Canned Heat on course for more than five decades. At his side is long-time Canned Heat frontman Dale Spalding from Austin, Texas, one of the most renowned harmonica players from the south of the USA! Rick Reed will also be playing bass at the concert. He has already played with Paul Butterfield, John Mayall, Charlie Musselwhite and the Chicago Blues Reunion. The typical Canned Heat sound will be provided by John Paulus on guitar.
