Rousing rhythms and beautiful melodies - Orff's masterpiece captivates people all over the world with its unique sound. The audience can expect an unforgettable classical music experience during the performance of this great milestone in music history.
In 1937, the composer Carl Orff set selected texts from the "Carmina Burana", a collection of songs and poems written around 1300, to music. The documents found in Benediktbeuern were written in the late Middle Ages by students, itinerant journeymen and clerics, who expressed their joie de vivre in a popular and sometimes rather coarse tone.
In addition to mocking poems, these records contain songs about drinking, partying and love. Orff has translated this text perfectly into his music and the music reflects the joie de vivre and vitality of the medieval original: a musical experience that captivates the listener from the very first chords of the famous "O Fortuna"!
