A group of refugees, adventurers, agents and Vichy policemen meet in Rick's Bar in Casablanca during the Second World War. In this international demimonde full of tension, intrigue and political repression, the cynical bar owner unexpectedly reunites with the love of his life, the wife of a Hungarian resistance fighter. The rekindling of the romance is thwarted by the need to save the husband from his Nazi persecutors.
