CATropolis FESTIVAL - A day full of culture in the old Gasteig

The Fat Cat cultural center in the old Gasteig is celebrating its second anniversary and invites you to the CATropolis Festival on April 11, 2024! From 4 pm, the old Gasteig will open its doors for a unique festival that celebrates the diversity and creative energy of the artists who have moved in - open end!

A day full of art, culture and exchange
Visitors can look forward to a varied program ranging from live music, theater, workshops, exhibitions and performances to a top-class panel.

Panel: "Clearing spaces"
Rüdiger Linhof from Sportfreunde Stiller, Flo August (producer Kraftklub/Nina Chuba), LAURAINE, Sebastian Weiss (Sepalot), Melis Çom (Duende), the Fachstelle Pop, representatives of the "München ist Kultur" alliance and other guests from the worlds of culture and politics will discuss the future of creative spaces in the city.

Two years of Fat Cat in the former Gasteig - we're celebrating!
Fat Cat gGmbH has been active as an interim use in the old Gasteig for two years. Over 200 artists, associations and cultural professionals have brought the building to life - and the festival provides a unique opportunity to get to know them.

Highlights & participants
There is a lot to discover not only on stage, take a look behind the scenes when the artists open the doors to their studios and ateliers. Producer and DJ Danca will be giving first insights into the world of production for FLINTA*, listen to a live acoustic session by Fahrlænd, while painter Anna Fuchs gives free rein to her creativity on canvas or dream your way into Munich in 2040 with Mucbook. The Verein zur Förderung urbaner Kunst e.V. gives you the opportunity to experience the graffiti legend Loomit live. Together with stencil artist eins92, he will sign T-shirts, caps and sketchbooks for you or design them with you.

From the Pixel downstairs next to the foyer to the 2nd floor, there are media, photo and art exhibitions to admire.

The 'Lucky Punch' Comedy Club invites you to two free shows in the afternoon.

Fat Cat's newest tenant, the Landeszentrale für Politische Bildung, will be organizing a democracy trail for visitors on the open day. This will take place twice a week in the building in future.

At the 'ichbaumit' architecture workshop, three-dimensional pop-up models will be created to bring visions for the city of tomorrow to life. Accompanied by the Children's Office for Urban Design, participants make their own spatial statements on community, climate and the urban future.

In the LiveEvil Club, there will be a children's rock camp by Rockstar Nation before the live concerts in the evening.

Numerous other interactive activities, workshops and community projects round off the CATropolis program.

Musical highlight in the Philharmonie
A special attraction is the TOURING concert in the Philharmonie. With an impressive lighting concept and rousing songs, they breathe new life into the supposedly disused hall and lay the foundations for future events in the Philharmonie.

The Munich and Berlin-based trio TOURING (Matthias Hauck, Nepomuk Heller and Marko Roth) combine electronica, breakbeats, house, techno and visual elements to create a unique multi-sensory experience, seamlessly blending electronica, breakbeats, house, techno and visual elements in their creations and making the connection between image and sound an integral part of their work. In collaboration with renowned light artists LICHTGESTALTEN, Norandin Becker and Naiv Studios, TOURING creates an immersive audiovisual experience that integrates the entire space of the Philharmonie with a specially designed light installation.
