CDSH Solo Project: Apperception // Programm B

The central examination achievement in the second year of training at the CDSH is the realization of their own short production. This year, 22 dancers have developed short pieces that deal with very different topics under the theme "APPERCEPTION".

Spilled ink on the paper. A picture is forming. Is it a butterfly? Two people holding hands? How can I tell the difference between an objective truth and my subjective interpretation of it? Is there even such thing as objective, when we all look at the world through our own fancy glasses?

"The question is not what you look at, but what you see." - This Is Apperception.

In composition workshops with Jascha Viehstädt and Raymond Liew Jin Pin, as well as with Claudia Ferrando and Lisa Hofmann, the students were given methods and tools to realize their own pieces. As every year, our artistic director, Raul Valdez, was at their side in mentoring sessions, helping them to find the right form and providing impetus for the realization of concepts and ideas. Björn Salzer supported the choreographers in the development and realization of their lighting concepts, Claudia Ferrando in the area of music editing and sound design and dramaturgical advice was provided by Matthias Quabbe as part of a dramaturgy seminar.
