Chico Trujillo

They are hardly unknown to anyone in Chile: Chico Trujillo have already won over and captivated more than half a million fans in their home country with their music. However, the band not only fills entire stadiums at home, but has also established itself strongly in the USA and Europe in addition to Latin America in recent years. Here they are regarded as the "Latin Gogol Bordello", and the New York Times called them a "world class party band".

Chico Trujillo have been touring regularly throughout Europe for years and have gained a large audience in German-speaking countries thanks to their very danceable music and rousing stage presence. The Chileans are known for the alternative core of their music, their curious joy of playing and their likeable down-to-earth attitude.

The music of the eleven-piece orchestra is made up of a wide variety of styles such as cumbia, bolero, rumba, rock, reggae and ska. The well-rehearsed rhythm section provides plenty of pressure and the large brass section really heats things up. And at the front is folk hero Macha, a tamer and expressive singer who switches effortlessly between sing-along anthems, fast spoken word and sensitive ballads.

With Chico Trujillo's music, one thing above all is pre-programmed: A good mood!
