Roberto (Ricardo Darin) runs a hardware store in Buenos Aires and is a notorious loner. His hobby is collecting curious stories that he cuts out of newspapers. One day, he himself becomes part of one such story when the Chinese man Jun (Ignacio Huang) suddenly bursts into his life. Jun doesn't speak a word of Spanish, was robbed immediately after his arrival in Argentina and is therefore dependent on the help of others. Roberto reluctantly takes on the Chinese man and helps him to find his uncle. But what he doesn't know yet is that he himself finds a way out of his dreary existence.
