ChorWerk Hannover was initiated in October 2018 by the Lower Saxony Choir Association - with the support of the Bürgerstiftung and Diakonisches Werk Hannover, under the patronage of Matthias Brodowy.
The choir is aimed at people in difficult circumstances. Singing together creates self-confidence, joie de vivre - and an audible voice for those who are otherwise rarely heard. Homeless people in particular are to be strengthened and accompanied on a meaningful path.

"Büttner's Best Choice" a band project for homeless men
The Werkheim, a charitable institution for homeless men in Hanover, has a special attraction: the band "Büttner's Best Choice". The band was founded in May 2016 as part of a recreational and educational initiative by Werkheim e.V. in Hanover. Rehearsals take place once a week in a specially created room with sufficient equipment. The aim of the project is to strengthen self-help skills through musical activity - an important prerequisite for starting a new life. Many classics from rock, pop, folk and blues history are rehearsed and played, such as "Knockin' on heavens door" by Bob Dylan, "Imagine" by John Lennon or "Wish you were here" by Pink Floyd.
The project is led by Willi Schönamsgruber, who, as a passionate rock musician, sees this as a special challenge and wants to help offer homeless people a home - and music is a great medium for this.
