"Off on a TOURING HOLIDAY!" is the motto of REIS AGAINST THE SPÜLMACHINE's new stage show. The music-comedy duo's fourth concert program is all about vacations. "We have a vacation playlist in our luggage with which we want to invite our audience on a two-hour short vacation," says Hanke Blendermann, explaining the concept.
The duo has been known throughout Germany for many years for their rousing stage show and their world hits with wit - brilliantly funny song parodies with guaranteed catchy tunes.
Whether AC/DC or Blümchen, ballads or rock songs - Philipp Kasburg and Hanke Blendermann demonstrate their musical range and move through all genres with stylistic confidence using two-part arrangements and interactive entertainment.
The trained musicians also present unexpectedly lyrical lyrics: The Beach Boys go "Saufen an nem See" and Westernhagen lives "Villenlos" on the road.
TOURLAUB has a lot of new material to offer, but popular evergreens such as the hit "Hast Du Saufen mal probiert?", which has been clicked millions of times, will not be missing on this trip. Philipp Kasburg promises: "We offer 5-star entertainment - all-inclusive. TOURLAUB is the ideal feel-good place for anyone who simply wants to get away from it all, have a carefree party and laugh together." Blendermann recommends: "Take a dip in the crowd, put the towel on the lounger and book tickets today for unforgettable TOURLAUB moments!"
REIS AGAINST THE SPÜLMACHINE simply belong on stage. Because a concert by these two is an unforgettable happening that leaves the audience happy at the end of the evening and wanting to see it again. Why? Because they connect people through music and humor, don't take themselves and their audience too seriously, but never become unfair.
About REIS AGAINST THE SPÜLMACHINE
REIS AGAINST THE SPÜLMACHINE is a music-comedy duo from Buxtehude and Oldenburg, consisting of Hanke Blendermann (* 1987), stage name "Onkel Hanke", and Philipp Kasburg (* 1981), stage name "Don Filippo". They themselves describe their style as "music comedy", elsewhere also as "music coverett", derived from the words "cover" and "music cabaret".
Career
Blendermann and Kasburg met at a singer-songwriter festival in Kevelaer in 2005. At the time, Blendermann was mainly active with his theater performance project "Das Buxtehuder Unsinnfonieorchester", his street music band "Jammin' Johnny and The Diskofuckers" and also solo. Kasburg was part of the singer-songwriter duo "Spieltrieb" and guitarist in the reggae band "Boomrush Backup".
In November 2011, Blendermann and Kasburg spontaneously got together for a pub night in Dortmund. This gave rise to the idea of working together as a duo. Initially, they performed in pubs, small clubs and at living room concerts. Due to their proximity to the singer-songwriter scene, they occasionally opened for the "Monsters of Liedermaching" and "Simon & Jan".
REIS AGAINST THE SPÜLMACHINE became better known after appearances in the comedy format NightWash and reading tours with the biographer of the doctors Stefan Üblacker (Das Buch Ä).
Their first solo program "Vitamine zum bösen Spiel" premiered on November 24, 2017 at Zeche Carl in Essen. In 2018 they won the NDR Comedy Contest. In 2019, they were nominated for the Prix Pantheon and took part in 1LIVE-Hörsaal-Comedy.
On 16 October 2019, their stage program "Die Fitteste Band der Welt" premiered at Zeche Carl in Essen. In 2020, they were guests on "Olafs Klub" (MDR) and took part in the St. Ingberter Pfanne.
During the coronavirus lockdown, they held events using Zoom video conferencing software. On April 9, 2020, they logged into 21 different conferences and gave 15-minute mini-concerts. In the "Rice Kitchen" format, they put on interactive shows from a kitchen.
Their third program "Radio Reis - Die Hitwelle" premiered on 29 September 2022. The program is strongly based on the concept of format radio and uses typical satirical elements such as jingles, advertising, traffic news, etc. in addition to numerous song parodies. Blendermann and Kasburg slip into the roles of radio presenters. The program even includes an interactive part in which the audience can express song requests during the interval via WhatsApp voice message, which are then played and fulfilled in the second half of the performance.
They reach an audience of millions on social media with specially produced reels and songs such as "Scheißerei", "Ich möchte heute nicht zur Arbeit geh'n" and "Hast du Saufen mal probiert?" become viral hits. This leads to a considerable German-speaking reach. (Instagram: >35k; Facebook >13k, Tiktok >16k, Youtube >9k, Spotify >360k (as of Dec. 2024))
Due to the combination of live music and humorous entertainment, the duo performs in cabaret and comedy venues as well as in music clubs and at rock festivals. They have played at Open Flair almost every year since 2015 and have been on the line-up for Bochum Total, Werner Rennen, A Summer's Tale, Eier mit Speck, Trebur Open Air, Elecrisize, Rock am Ring (opening party) and various large city festivals.
From the end of February to the end of April 2024, REIS AGAINST THE SPÜLMACHINE opened for the band Versengold on their "Lautes Gedenken Tour 2024" through Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
On May 8, 2024, they released the parody "Hast Du Saufen mal probiert?", written by them to the melody of Klaus Lage's "1000 und 1 Nacht (Zoom!)", together with the duo Kings of Günter and produced by Xtreme Sound Recordings. The summer hit went to number 1 in the German ITunes Schlager Charts and reached 10 million Spotify streams within 6 months.
On 26.09.2025 their fourth full-length concert program "TOURLAUB" celebrated its premiere.
Name of the duo
The name is a reference to the US bands Rage Against The Machine and Rise Against. According to their own statements, the duo's first joint parody was an adaptation of the song "(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party)" by the Beastie Boys. Their version is called "(You Gotta) Fight For Your Rice (Basmati)". However, the German word "Reis" was later used in the duo's name. The word "Spülmachine" is also a combination of German and English spelling, but the content is not explained in more detail. The name thus already illustrates the duo's parodic and punning style.
Style
Typical for REIS AGAINST THE SPÜLMACHINE is the rewriting of well-known rock and pop songs. As a rule, this is done in German. The starting point is usually a passage of text that is phonetically similar to the original text. In terms of content, they move between nonsense, everyday topics and socio-political satire.
They work on entire pieces of music, but sometimes they also put together medleys of different songs on a specific topic (e.g. fruit, pasta or tea). The songs are presented with two acoustic guitars, two-part vocals, a stompbox and various small instruments such as harmonica, nose flute or kazoo. An integral part of all stage programs is Hanke Blendermann's melody playing on a beer bottle, accompanied by Philipp Kasburg on the guitar.
