The pianist, composer and conductor Christian Elsässer is one of the most versatile representatives of contemporary jazz in Europe of his generation. He regularly works with the most renowned orchestras on the international scene such as the Metropole Orchestra (3

Grammys), the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, all German radio big bands (HR, WDR, NRD and SWR) and the Munich Radio Orchestra. His musical partners include

many stars of the industry, such as Dee Dee Bridgewater, Kurt Elling, Mike Stern, Vince Mendoza, Mike Mainieri and many more.

With Niels Klein, Tim Collins, Henning Sieverts and Fabian Arends - all important voices on the German jazz scene - Christian Elsässer has found partners for his new quintet project who share his musical vision. All of the compositions were penned by the bandleader and span a wide range from intimate duos, a four-part canon perhaps reminiscent of J.S. Bach, impressionistic chordal colors to energetically charged groove pieces.

The many different ways in which the individual instruments can be combined and mixed allow for a broad tonal spectrum and a wide dynamic range. The vibraphone, as an exotic part of the ensemble, forms the link between the polyphony and warmth of the piano and the percussive nature of the drums and blends organically into the overall sound.

The album "The Move" was created in cooperation with Bayerischer Rundfunk and was released in spring 2025.
