Chu Chun Hsu: Handlungs(t)raum

In the organizer's words:

Handlungsraum / Handlungsstraum - this deliberately ambiguous title combines reality and dream, reality and imagination. In various media, the artist Chu Chun Hsu deals with the representation of spaces or, more precisely, the memories of them. Her works are based on the very spaces in which the artist lives and works in reality or which she finds in various sources or experiences imaginatively in dreams. Hsu's works - in drawings, paintings and collages, even sculptures - are always based on the floor plans, dimensions and everyday design elements of those seemingly familiar spaces. In the artist's interpretation, all spatial representations undoubtedly lose all familiarity and self-evidence.

Chu Chun Hsu (* 1991 in Yilan, Taiwan) graduated from the Department of Material Arts and Design at Tainan National University of the Arts in 2013. She has been studying fine art at the Kunstakademie Münster since 2016, currently as a master student of Suchan Kinoshita. Immediately following her graduation presentation in Münster this year, she will be showing her first solo exhibition at galerie januar. She lives and works in Münster.
