CINEvhs global: Capernaum – Stadt ohne Hoffnung

The life of the young Lebanese Zain (Zain Al Rafeea) is chaotic. The 12-year-old (at least that's the age he is estimated to be) is already in prison. He is accused of stabbing someone. He is now serving his sentence in a juvenile detention center in Beirut. He sees his parents (Kawthar Al Haddad and Fadi Kamel Youssef) again in court, but not because they have come to support their son, but because Zain has sued them. The reason: they brought him into this world. Now he wants to prevent his parents from having any more children who will also be born into this terrible world full of chaos and war. So Zain describes his dramatic circumstances to the judge, leaving out no detail. He tells of his large family, who live together in the poorest of conditions in just a few square meters, and he tells of how his father one day sold Zain's beloved sister Sahar (Haita Izam)...
