A symphonic circus

The well-known Lübeck youth circus Charivari is leaving the hall of the Lübeck 1876 sports club to perform on the stage of the Großes Haus at Theater Lübeck. The multi-award-winning inclusive circus is also breaking new musical ground. Whereas in previous projects and tours, a circus band played along with the artistic acts, now it will be an entire symphony orchestra in keeping with the grand occasion.

For circus director Trix Langhans, this is the fulfillment of a long-cherished dream: to rethink circus in a completely new way, namely as the visualization of classical music. In keeping with the season, the focus is on summer themes. From the lively "Tanz unter der Dorflinde" (C. Reinecke) to "Einsamkeit in den Wäldern" (N.W. Gade) and Mendelssohn Bartholdy's famous "Hochzeitsmarsch", 25 young artists from Circus Charivari aged between 12 and 17 visualize the classical works.

Together with the Johanneum Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Gernot Maetzel, the young artists invite you to a completely new experience and perception of classical music.

Impressive aerial artistry, floor acrobatics, unicycle choreographies and juggling, embedded in scenic performances, merge with the music to create an impressive total work of art.
