CJS Wettbewerb Preisverleihung/ Live: N.O. Trio

"With the audience to the trio" - this is how one newspaper review described the special atmosphere that Nicklas John and Orest Filipov create with their concerts.
The fact that they take the audience with them on their musical journey, creating a shared flow, a shared vibration, turns the Nicklas-Orest duo into something bigger: the N.O. Trio! With their sincere musical dialog, the two have won numerous competitions: they won the Folkwang Prize and the Domicil Dortmund Jazz Club Sponsorship Award. They also played in the semi-finals of the Bucharest International Jazz Competition. Originally from Bonn and Donetsk, Ukraine, the duo met while studying at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. During recordings for the album "Inside You", a mutual trust in each other and the joy of having found a musically congenial brother in their partner became apparent.

The Cologne Jazz Supporters e.V. (CJS) held its composition competition for jazz musicians from NRW for the fifth time. There were 43 submissions. The composition "Baldeneyus" by Nicklas John came in second place. The young pianist has just completed his studies at the Folkwang University in Essen. He has already won a number of prizes as a pianist and composer and was a member of the JugendJazzOrchester NRW. He performs solo, with the Duo N.O. Trio (sic) and the quartet Eines Tages.
