Three celestial bodies shot into orbit vibrate in a lascivious and hypnotic ritual. From impulses to gestures, sometimes sexy, sometimes mechanical, Clara Furey's creation is composed like a polyphony of pulsating bodies. Alternately dissonant and in unison, Furey makes perceptible how sound vibrations penetrate the bones, how skeletons absorb shocks, and listens carefully to the presence of the body. On stage, dancers Justin De Luna, Jontae McCrory and Brian Mendez create a space for the pure joy of movement and sound. The trio thrives on empathy and keen attention to the energies of the bodies on stage. Dog Rising invites us to embark on an extreme journey, a mesmerizing, intense and penetrating spiral. It is an invitation to grow and regenerate physical strength. Shocks and discomfort are transformed into joy - a choreography to melt away.
Clara Furey is a choreographer and performer based in Tiohtià:ke/Montréal. She explores the codes that move within and between different art forms. She tries to awaken the sensory perceptions of the audience and the performers and give them an immediate, emotional access. After her musical training at the Conservatoire de Paris, she trained in dance at the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal and later worked with choreographers such as George Stamos, Damien Jalet and Benoît Lachambre. Her work has been shown at numerous festivals, including the Venice Biennale, the TransAmériques Festival in Montréal, ImPulsTanz in Vienna, Performance Mix in New York City, Fierce Festival Birmingham and B-Motion in Bassano del Grappa. We are delighted that she will be a guest at tanzhaus nrw for the first time with Dog Rising.
