Clear or Cloudy - Chormusik aus vier Jahreszeiten und acht Jahrhunderten

The choir of the Protestant Student Community Heidelberg cordially invites you to the concerts with the theme "Clear or Cloudy - Choral Music from Four Seasons and Eight Centuries" on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 8 pm in the Kreuzkirche in Wieblingen and on Sunday, July 20, 2025 at 7 pm in the Peterskirche Heidelberg.

The 140-member choir will present a colorful mixture of old and new music for spring, summer, autumn and winter. The ensemble will be conducted by Xaver Detzel, who is celebrating his 25th anniversary as conductor of the choir this semester. The singers will be accompanied by Min Woo on the piano.

The program includes the oldest surviving canon "Sumer is icumen in" from the 13th century, romantic-autumnal melodies by Brahms and pieces by contemporary composers such as Ola Geilo. Always following the seasonal theme, the choir juxtaposes contemporary and classical works. This includes "august" by Taylor Swift and "Let it go" from the musical "Frozen" as well as songs by well-known a cappella pop groups such as the Pentatonix. The variety of musical styles, composers and languages provides a varied and entertaining sound experience for the audience.
