Clemens Meyer: »Die Projektoren«

Clemens Meyer was: a post-reunification author eagerly dreamed of by the (West) feuilleton, who, as a tattooed (East) youth prisoner and ex-watchman, furniture packer and construction worker, was somehow supposed to bring exciting authenticity to German literature. Clemens Meyer is: a terrific writer whose first novel(Als wir träumten, 2006) made the above-mentioned literary critics dream and whose second novel(Im Stein, 2013) was then sensationally nominated for the Man Booker International Prize. Clemens Meyer will be there for us: a good old acquaintance who will be presenting his third novel(Die Projektoren, 2024) on the occasion of his fourth visit to the Salon. It's about war, Nazis, the former Yugoslavia and, last but not least, cinema - as well as the earliest German pop culture. Clemens Meyer talks to salon host Jens Meyer-Kovać about a cowboy from Croatia, western magazines and Karl May.
