An evening on the Schäl Sick - first sounds before the festival.
Two months before the start of Cologne Jazzweek 2025, the festival moves to the other side of the Rhine for the first time: to Kalk. With CJW Ahead at Kulturhof Kalk, Cologne Jazzweek is playing at a new venue - in the middle of the neighborhood, open, free, outdoors and indoors.

19:30 Eva Swiderski & Jannis Sicker

Eva Swiderski and Jannis Sicker meet for the first time this evening as a duo - a meeting of two worlds open to sound. Their music is created in the moment: improvised, intuitive, perhaps melancholic, perhaps wild... Between electronic poetry, voice and guitar, a delicate web of depth, curiosity and sonic surprise unfolds.

20:30 Gianni Brezzo

This is followed by Gianni Brezzo, the jazzy band project of Cologne-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Marvin Horsch. In a septet formation formed especially for this evening, he will present his new album Sprechiamo! - a musical journey through Italian sound culture, personal memories and urban zeitgeist. Between composers of the 60s/70s, the Napoli Underground, Periodica Records and modern references à la Khruangbin or Sven Wunder, a sound emerges that reflects Cologne-Ehrenfeld just as much as the Italy of his grandparents: warm, psychedelic, grooving.

21:30 Hermes Villena

The evening will be rounded off by DJ and record collector Hermes Villena - deeply rooted in the local scene, with an open ear for global sounds. Between industrial charm and summer romance, he circulates sounds from the Caribbean, North Africa and beyond. A musical breeze for the warm night - danceable, driving, surprising.
