Cologne Jazzweek: Fabian Dudek – Night by Night

Two years ago, Fabian Dudek began a cycle with "Day By Day", which the Cologne saxophonist and composer is now continuing in 2025 with the premiere of his piece "Night By Night" at Cologne Jazzweek. And Dudek has once again doubled up this band with keyboarders Olga Reznichenko and Felix Hauptmann, bassists Trevor Dunn and Robert Landfermann and drummers Francesca Remigi and Leif Berger, as well as adding an electric guitarist, Arne Braun, as a new timbre. With "Night By Night", Dudek will once again search for contrasts in order to develop an ensemble sound that is both thought-provoking and simply fun for the audience. The double rhythm section has a special role to play here: it is intended to provide energetic power as well as to keep the rhythmic foundation per se under tension, while Fender Rhodes, synthesizer and piano plus electric guitar outline the harmonic space into which Dudek throws his wide, melodic garlands with the alto saxophone.
