In 2017, Cologne-based singer-songwriter Elsa Johanna Mohr founded her trio LUAH with Lena-Larissa Senge and Ula Martyn-Ellis. Their paths crossed at the Institute of Music at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences, where Mohr and Senge studied jazz singing and Martyn-Ellis jazz guitar. "Sunlit", the debut of their vocal trio expanded with percussion, guitar and mandolin, was released in 2019, and the album "Movimento" was awarded the German Jazz Prize in 2023. While a polyphonic eclecticism was already evident there, an eloquent, aesthetically diverse creative cosmos is now unfolding, in which Afro-Brazilian rhythms join hands with smooth arrangements of polyglot pop and the authentic themes of modern jazz. The vocals switch casually from English to Portuguese and back again, the three friends alternate ingeniously between lively celebração and yearning saudade and tell stories of profound encounters and fleeting meetings.

When Enkhjargal Erkhembayar heard jazz for the first time, the singer, who was born in Ulan Bator in 1991, had already completed a degree in music education and was also intensively involved with the folk music of her homeland. This was at the Goethe Music Laboratory in Ulan Bator, which was run by the German bassist Martin Zenker. This time was a revelation for the young woman, both as a person and as a jazz artist. The jazz of today showed her a freedom of expression that she had never known before. She learned to sing according to jazz without ignoring her own "roots" in the far-reaching vocal tradition of Mongolia. She went to Munich to study at the University of Music and Performing Arts and has since called herself Enji (which is easier for non-Mongolian lips) and is working even harder than before to build a bridge between the ancient throat singing of her native Mongolia called Urtin Duu and the jazz singing tradition of African-American and European influences.
