Cologne Jazzweek: Simon Nabatov – Meeting Room

Simon Nabatov invites two musicians he has known and admired for many years to a "real" musical meeting. Nabatov heard and met Michael Formanek several times in the early 80s in New York, where Michael, despite his young age, was already a sought-after bassist of international repute. Much later, Formanek appeared on Nabatov's CD "Last Minute Theory" (Clean Feed Records). Nabatov first became aware of the Belgian wind player Joachim Badenhorst when he heard him in various projects by bassist/composer Pascal Niggenkemper. "He had long been on my wish list for musical collaborators," says Simon. Now the "Meeting Room" is set up for musical explorations and discussions based on Simon Nabatov's new compositions.
