„Common Ground“ - Ausstellung des Female Photoclub München

In the organizer's words:

Why are there still so many clichés about women's age and sexuality? Why is there so little research on the menopause? What challenges do people with a history of migration or physical disabilities still face in our society? And why does the thuja plant symbolize the German tendency towards monoculture?

In the exhibition "Common Ground", which can be seen from June 5 to 27, 2025 on the grounds of Bahnwärter Thiel, 20 female photographers from the Female Photoclub Munich raise controversial social issues. They have all dealt with the exhibition theme in a variety of ways in individual images or series and interpreted it in their own way - sometimes stirring, sometimes touching, sometimes provocative. Their photographs are exhibited in large-format prints and posters in the public space on the grounds of the cultural center.

In the exhibition, "Common Ground" symbolizes the common ground that we share despite all the challenges and differences. A common foundation on which new ideas and approaches can emerge and on which differences do not divide, but rather enrich and inspire.

The exhibition is curated by Birthe Steinbeck, Art Director of the Süddeutsche Zeitung magazine. She will open the exhibition at the vernissage on June 5 together with Female Photoclub board member Juliane Hermann and the participants.

The exhibition was made possible by funding from the Department of Culture and the Isarvorstadt district committee, Munich.

The cultural and social exchange is to be promoted with various events around the exhibition and cooperations.
