With HELLO MARY, choreographer Mónica García Vicente and her Connection Dance Center are dedicating a special performance to the pioneer of modern dance Mary Wigman. Wigman revolutionized expressive dance and placed expressiveness, rather than perfect form, at the heart of her work.
This idea lives on in the 60-minute performance. The young dancers of the Connection Dance Center - aged 16 to 28 - explore Wigman's legacy and transform their impulses into a powerful, contemporary choreography.
The performance is the result of an intensive artistic process: through training, creative experiments and collaborative work, the dancers have developed their own approach to expressive dance.
