conTRUMPETary Ensemble

In the organizer's words:

The conTRUMPETary ensemble is part of the conTRUMPETary project, which aims to promote and disseminate contemporary literature for and with trumpet. Since 2021, the two trumpeters Tobias Krieger and Sandro Hirsch have been collecting unknown and rarely heard works, commissioning compositions and disseminating this literature with recordings and in concerts.

Tobias Krieger began playing the trumpet at the age of three and has been studying with Reinhold Friedrich at the Karlsruhe University of Music since 2018. He is a multiple prizewinner of renowned competitions, including the German Music Competition 2023 and the International Trumpet Competition 2021 in Bad Säckingen, and has played in renowned orchestras such as the NDR Radiophilharmonie and the Badische Staatskapelle Karlsruhe.

Sandro Hirsch (*1997) studied with Klaus Schuhwerk and Reinhold Friedrich, among others, and is a multiple prizewinner, including at the German Music Competition 2023. He has performed as a soloist with renowned orchestras, founded a brass band for street children in Kigali in 2019 and has been promoting contemporary music for trumpet with the conTRUMPETary project since 2021.

Jhih-Ting Wong, originally from Taiwan, studied piano and song composition at the Karlsruhe University of Music, graduating with honors in both subjects. As a sought-after chamber musician, she regularly performs with renowned artists such as Reinhold Friedrich and is a lecturer in wind accompaniment at the Karlsruhe University of Music.
