Waiblingen - Democracy is not a sure-fire success. Anyone who considers terms such as "remigration" to be harmless word games is misjudging their political explosive power. On Wednesday, October 1, 2025, Marcus Bensmann from the non-profit media company CORRECTIV will be a guest at the Kulturhaus Schwanen. Start: 7:30 pm (admission: 7 pm). An event with attitude - organized with the Alliance for Democracy Waiblingen.

A year ago, CORRECTIV published the revelation about the secret meeting of right-wingers and entrepreneurs in Potsdam. The reaction: millions took to the streets. But despite protests, debates are moving further to the right. Racist narratives are being normalized, while far-right positions are penetrating talk shows and timelines, and the evening will focus on questions about the influence of far-right narratives on our society, the consequences of political disinformation and the work of investigative journalists in an increasingly polarized environment.

If a journalist is thrown out of the country by a despotic regime, he has probably done his job well. Just like Marcus Bensmann. For 20 years, he reported for German, Swiss and Japanese media from Central Asia, the Caucasus, Afghanistan, Iran and Iraq. His topics in Central Asia and the Caucasus were abuse of power and corruption as well as the cooperation of the German government and the EU with despots. He is no longer allowed to work in Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. Instead, Bensmann has been uncovering sinister machinations from CORRECTIV since 2014. Among other things, he has investigated the downing of flight MH-17, AfD funding and adulterated cancer drugs from the old pharmacy. He found the letter proving that the late Pope Benedict XVI was responsible for the reassignment of a priest convicted of child abuse to a parish in Upper Bavaria. Whether in Central Asia, Bottrop or Garching an der Alz: Bensmann goes on site. He takes his time, talks to people, listens, finds sources and witnesses and opens up a different perspective.
