Cranko

In the organizer's words:

In 1960, the beleaguered choreographer John Cranko (Sam Riley) comes to the Stuttgart Ballet to revitalize the company. However, he did not make the journey from London entirely voluntarily. Because there, in Great Britain, life became increasingly unbearable for him. As a homosexual man, he was considered a leper by society and was even banned from his profession. But in Stuttgart, none of this seemed to matter very much. Cranko quickly won the favor of the audience, climbed the career ladder to become ballet director and became a star of the scene with worldwide acclaim. But like almost all fame, this also comes at a price. His steep rise takes its toll and Cranko has to face his inner demons. But then everything comes to an abrupt, even tragic end when Cranko dies on the flight back from the USA - surrounded by his dancers.
