CRONEBERG’S GARTEN

In the organizer's words:

SomoS Arts, in collaboration with curator Lindsay Inglis, is pleased to announce the exhibition Croneberg's Garten, featuring works by visual artists Emeli Theander and Aline Schwörer.

The group exhibition explores the changing relationship between humans and nature through the visual dialog of sculpture and painting. Building on the themes of the human body, physical transformation, technology, surrealism and obscurity presented in the artistic work of Canadian director David Cronenberg, the exhibition explores the complex relationships between the body and the environment.

Theander's paintings evoke dreamlike landscapes in which the figures merge with their surroundings and dissolve the boundaries between the individual and the outside world. In contrast, Schwörer's sculptures evoke artefacts of an imagined future, visualizing the Anthropocene, in which human activity has led to the disappearance of traditional ecosystems.
