Crossings II: Kommas Ensemble x gabb

In the Crossings concert series, different musical genres meet: a band and a local artist. We invite you to spend time together with music, so that our paths may also cross, in #2 with gabb and the Kommas Ensemble.

The Kommas Ensemble, founded in Cologne in 2015, has set itself the goal of providing a platform for the latest developments in Latin American contemporary music in Germany. Its programs include works by Latin American composers, new artistic positions and socio-political issues that shape the region. As part of its 10th anniversary, Kommas is coming to Bremen to present its program "Steine" with interdisciplinary and acousmatic works by Francisco C. Goldschmidt, Evelyn Frosini, Kaija Saariaho and Zeno Baldi. The concert will be complemented by video installations by the artist Nicolás Rupcich.

Gabriela Valdespino is a Caracas-born artist, sound designer and DJ. She works across disciplines in the fields of stage design, text and performance. Her works include experimental narrative formats, live improvisations, sound collages and compositions, which she presents as installations and audiovisual performances.

As a DJ, gabb [BRILLO LENTA] oscillates between deconstructed sounds and percussive rhythms, focusing on experimenting with vocals and different genres. For Crossing II she moves through different timelines and combines industrial sounds with elements of Latin American music, which subtly emerge as echoing fragments. This creates a dense atmosphere that interweaves past and present.
