Olivia has disappeared. The ten-year-old wanted to find out for herself who was making the brutal videos that were circulating around the school. Now she herself is in terrible danger. While her mother despairs, her father, a preacher at a Christian church, accepts the situation as a test sent by God.
Simon Rumley (THE LIVING AND THE DEAD, FASHIONISTA) takes us into the most abysmal regions of human existence. With great sensitivity, he dispenses with sensationalist images and gimmicky suspense, and even manipulative film music. Instead, he uses a sober realism to immerse himself in the souls of his characters, both victims and perpetrators. In doing so, he pits Old Testament eye-for-an-eye against New Testament forgiveness. CRUSHED poses questions that are difficult to answer. A film that stirs, hurts and polarizes.
