Curtis on Tour: Kammermusik mit Klavier: Debussy, Ravel und Fauré

In the organizer's words:

On the joint European tour with the renowned cellist Gary Hoffman, Alexandra Cooreman (violin), Alyssa Warcup (viola) and Serena Wang (piano) begin with one of Claude Debussy's last compositions, the Sonata in D minor for cello and piano, an elegant, atmospheric work that is at once dark, mysterious, meditative and playful.

This is followed by Maurice Ravel's dazzling Piano Trio in A minor, a dreamy work with echoes of jazz, Javanese gamelan and courtly baroque dances, which leads into a brilliant finale. The concert concludes with Gabriel Fauré's deeply moving Piano Quartet No. 1 in C minor, widely regarded as one of the most important and celebrated French chamber music works of the late 19th century.

The concert is organized by the Curtis Institute of Music in cooperation with Bard College Berlin and Young Euro Classic.
