Dark soundscapes between spaghetti western, country and 60s lounge
Helldorado, the collaboration between Seth Fleming and Frithjof Rödel that emerged from a film music project, combines dark spaghetti western sounds with tremolo-laden guitar ballads, country elements and the elegance of 60s lounge music.
Seth Fleming's distinctive baritone vocals create a raw, melancholy atmosphere in which themes such as love, loss, addiction and transience are musically negotiated. His impressive string arrangements - interpreted on this evening by the Bergstrom-Kollektiv, an ensemble of musicians from the Erfurt Theatre Philharmonic Orchestra - immerse the audience in a dark world of sound reminiscent of the music that filled silent movie theaters over 100 years ago.
Seth Fleming, a native of Texas, has lived in Thuringia for over 20 years. Together with Erfurt musician Frithjof Rödel (Northern Lite, among others) on slide guitar, baritone guitar, bass and synthesizer, he creates a unique sound that is both cinematic in scope and intimate in depth.
The Bergstrom Collective is an open association of musicians from the Erfurt Philharmonic Orchestra. The idea of a collective was born from concerts as a string quintet formation in care facilities during the lockdown in 2020. On the evening, the collective will also perform some pieces on its own.
A cooperation with Theater Erfurt.
