The novel "Daniel Halber Mensch" tells the exciting story of two unequal friends between 1933 and 1945. Daniel, the son of a "half-Jewish" family according to the Nazi definition, increasingly comes into conflict with the Nazi system and the family has to flee Germany in 1938. The author David Chotjewitz, himself at home in Altona, leads a literary walk through the former working-class district of Altona Altstadt, reads passages from the novel and talks about historical events and current developments. For the audience, this creates the exciting situation of experiencing scenes right where they happened.
