For the internationally acclaimed violinist Daniel Hope, this musical trip to Ireland is a true project of the heart that goes deep into his own family history. His great-grandfather set off from Ireland over 100 years ago to find his fortune. "Without Danny, I might never have discovered the violin," says Hope. "Because it was only because of him that we were entitled to an Irish passport when my father had to leave South Africa because of his resistance to the apartheid regime. And it was only thanks to this Irish passport that we were able to settle in London, where my mother found a job with Yehudi Menuhin." With his international AIR ensemble, the exceptional virtuoso now traces the myths and legends of the Emerald Isle. The focus is on pieces by Irish composers from the Renaissance to the late Baroque as well as pub classics that simply won't let you keep your feet still.
