Daria Assmus was born in Detmold in 1993 and studied jazz and pop singing at the ArtEZ Conservatorium in Arnhem, the Netherlands, from 2015 to 2019.
She has been obsessed with music since childhood. As a teenager, she began to develop her own style, influenced by artists such as Etta James, Joss Stone, Ella Fitzgerald and Portishead. Daria wrote her first original songs at the age of 14 and later worked in various band projects as a lead singer and songwriter.
In 2018, she performed as a soloist together with the brass ensemble "Brasssonanz" with the program "Too Darn Hot" in the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and in the St. Vincentius Church in Dinslaken, among others. Daria has been singing in the musical "Rock'n Rollator Show" under the direction of Michael Barfuss since 2013, which is performed in renowned theaters such as "Haus der Springmaus" in Bonn, "Savoy Theater" in Düsseldorf and "Volksbühne am Rudolfplatz" in Cologne.
For the German series "Kuntergrau" Daria composed and sang the final song of season 1 and the theme song of season 2 together with Max Kelm.
Another project is her duo "GREBE", where she works together with guitarist Jan Krause. In their jazzy songs, they experiment with loops and electronic sounds.
Since starting her studies, Daria Assmus has worked with various producers such as "Mazde", "Andre Schnura" and "Emanuel Bender" in the field of electronic music.
In 2019, she performed with her new program by Michael Barfuss "Daria Assmus and the Heavy Soul Band" in the main hall of the Pantheon Theater in Bonn and at the Staatstheater in Oldenburg. In July 2019, she opened the stage for Sir Tom Jones at the Fantastival in Dinslaken with her band "Daria and the Groove Foundation".
